On February 16, 2023, the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival is scheduled to begin. A new kind of romantic comedy called She Came to Me has joined the schedule of the 2019 festival. Rebecca Miller, a writer, and filmmaker will launch the festival with her film.

Anne Hathaway, Marisa Tomei, Brian d’Arcy James, Peter Dinklage, and Joanna Kulig are among the cast members of She Came to Me. “Love in all its manifestations” will be explored in the movie. The New York City-based movie centers on a composer named Steven Lauddem, who is played by Dinklage, and who runs into a creative block while attempting to write the music for what is meant to be his comeback opera. Steven will discover far more than he could have ever expected when his wife Patricia, represented by Hathaway, proposes that he go in quest of inspiration.

The movie will premiere at the Berlinale Palast as a Special Gala outside the festival’s competition. Mariette Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian, the directors of the Berlinale, commented on the choice to have She Came to Me begin the festival:

“We are very pleased to open this festival edition with an irresistible comedy that builds upon the everyday conflicts of western society. The characters, conceived by Rebecca Miller and incarnated by fantastic actors choose to follow the inspiration of the moment instead of being led by societal dictates. Like a pre-code Hollywood film, She Came to Me is a magical ode to the freedom of expression.”
