As Stifler’s mother in the American Pie sequels, Jennifer Coolidge would return.

According to Jennifer Coolidge, she is open to making a comeback in future American Pie films in her own distinctive style. One of her earliest roles was in the Chris and Paul Weitz-produced original 1999 sex comedy American Pie. She portrayed the mother of Seann William Scott’s boisterous rogue Steve Stifler, a character whose appearance prompted the coining of the term “MILF” and who later had a sexual relationship with her son Finch’s buddy (Eddie Kaye Thomas). In each of the three official sequels to the movie—American Pie 2, American Wedding, and American Reunion—she would reprise the part three times.

NBC broadcast The 80th Golden Globes last night, during which Coolidge took up a prize for her supporting performance in the HBO series The White Lotus.

Reese Witherspoon from Legally Blonde, Ryan Murphy from The Watcher, and the Weitz Brothers were among those praised by Coolidge during her award speech for helping to sustain her career over the years with “pretty little gigs.” She expressed her gratitude for the American Pie series’ continuous success and declared, “I’m still going for 6 or 7, whatever they want.” Read the complete remark below (but keep in mind that she incorrectly claims the series has five films rather than four in the heat of the moment):

There were these people who would give me these cute little jobs and it would be enough to get me to the next one… The Weitz brothers kept me going, some of these things would go like five different sequels of American Pie, I milked that to the bone. I mean, I’m still going for six or seven, whatever they want, you know?

Will Jennifer Coolidge be cast in the next American Pie sequel?

Fortunately for Jennifer Coolidge, a follow-up to American Pie is already in production. Sujata Day, a former Insecure actor, is now developing and writing the movie, which will apparently be a “new take” on the show. This probably indicates that a new core cast of characters will be followed instead of the previous main actors Stifler, Finch, Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas), Jim (Jason Biggs), and Oz (Chris Klein),

Even yet, there is always a potential that one or more of these characters may make a brief cameo appearance in the remake. All American Pie movies, including the five direct-to-video American Pie, Present spin-offs produced between 2005 and 2020, share another characteristic: one of the main characters is a member of the extended Stifler family. It makes perfect sense for Coolidge to make an appearance as Stifler’s mother in this new movie if the relationship is maintained.

The fact that recurrent performers are often welcomed in the American Pie franchise is another argument in Coolidge’s favor. Eugene Levy returned his role as Jim’s Dad in eight of the nine movies, even for projects where Jim didn’t appear, despite the fact that the 2020 relaunch picture American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules didn’t have any returning cast members. Fans of Stifler’s Mom have reason to hope no matter which way the American Pie series goes because other cast members, such as Chris Owen as Chuck Sherman and Tad Hilgenbrink as Matt Stifler, have returned for the spin-offs.
