Fans of Celine Dion are very angry. The ‘200 Greatest Singers of All Time’ was a list compiled by Rolling Stones last week. Music fans all over the world have conflicting reactions to the inclusion of some artists and the placement of some in relation to others. Speaking of which, Celine Dion was left off the list, much to the disappointment of her devoted fans. After that, on Friday, January 6 (IST), her disgruntled supporters organised a demonstration outside the Rolling Stones office to protest her exclusion.

15 Celine Dion admirers from the Facebook group The Redheads travelled from Montreal to New York City, according to a Variety article, to protest outside the Rolling Stone Magazine headquarters. Additionally, they had a number of signs with them. “Rolling Stone you’ve hit an iceberg,” read one of them. Additionally, The Redheads’ founder Line Basbous stated that the band wanted to promote Celine and let the magazine hear from the singer’s supporters. Line referred to Rolling Stone’s list of the greatest singers as “ridiculous.” The list has prompted responses from musicians in addition to Dion devotees.

Who else got omitted from this list?

Former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman tweeted that given the source, he is not surprised by the list. “If a media outlet uses ‘sui generis’ to describe the most influential singer of all time, said media outlet’s assessment should be taken with a grain of salt the size of Iceland. Nothing to see here,” his tweet read. Kiss Rocker Gene Simmons was also left off from the list.

He expressed his thoughts while telling TMZ that he could care less about the list. Additionally, he described it as “one-sided” and “skewed.” Simmons continued by saying that the list is about who is and is not popular. The rocker continued by saying that having a distinctive voice and fashion sense are more important than necessarily being able to sing. Fans of Michael Jackson are just as enraged as those of Celine Dion. Fans are dissatisfied with his position on the list of the 200 Greatest Singers of All Time, despite the fact that he made it there, unlike Celine Dion.

The list of the top 100 singers by Rolling Stones was first released in 2008. They employed a “elaborate voting mechanism” back then, the journal claims, and well-known musicians’ opinions were also taken into consideration. The updated list, however, incorporated suggestions from the publication’s editorial board and other important contributors, and “it encompasses 100 years of pop music as a continuous worldwide discourse.”The ranking was centred on the greatest singers, not the best voices, according to the publication’s clarification.
