It appears that the length of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has been disclosed, and it could be the longest Ant-Man film ever. Scott Lang was portrayed by Paul Rudd for the first time in the 2015 film Ant-Man. Since then, the superhero who can change his size has grown to be an essential element of the MCU, featuring in Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: End Game in addition to another solo film costarring Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp, or Janet Van Dyne.

Naturally, the MCU has moved on from many of the characters it first presented in its early stages. However, Ant-Man remains a key component of Marvel’s plans, and a third standalone film is about to be released. Of course, an exciting teaser for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has already been published, and now fans could have just learned how long the upcoming MCU film will go. According to Fandango, the latest Ant-Man installment has a runtime of 2 hours and 5 minutes, making it the longest Ant-Man film to date by a very slim margin. Ant-Man and the Wasp ran for an hour and 58 minutes, whereas the first Ant-Man ran for an hour and 57 minutes.

Comparing Quantumania’s runtime to other films in Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania may be longer than past Ant-Man movies but shorter than many recent Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films. Phase 4 of the MCU has featured longer movies, starting with Black Widow at 134 minutes and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Twelve Rings at 132 minutes. Eternals, which had a runtime of 156 minutes, was also a part of Phase 4. Some believe that Eternals’ long runtime may have contributed to its mixed reception.

With the hit Spider-Man: No Way Home, which had a runtime of 148 minutes, the situation with regard to the length of MCU films didn’t get any better. Thor: Love and Thunder and Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness followed, both clocking in at relatively modest runs of 126 minutes and 119 minutes, respectively, in 2022. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which lasted a whopping 161 minutes, completed Phase 4 after that.

With a duration that, when compared to the MCU films fans have been given in recent years, may feel a touch on the short side, Ant-Man, and the Wasp: Quantumania now launches Phase 5. But a shorter running length seems acceptable considering where Ant-Man stands in relation to the larger Marvel universe. It would be absurd to produce an Ant-Man movie the size of Wakanda Forever. Given the superhero weariness that some belief has already started to set in at the box office, it will be fascinating to watch whether future MCU films likewise strive to keep things closer to the 120-minute mark.
