On January 5, 2023, Tristan Thompson’s mother suddenly suffered a heart attack at home and passed unexpectedly. She was sent urgently to a local hospital in Toronto, Canada, where medical staff tried in vain to revive her. The 31-year-old basketball player and his ex Khloé Kardashian, according to sources by TMZ, left Los Angeles as soon as he got this devastating news in order to be with his family in Toronto.
Tristan and his mother shared a strong bond
Tristan regularly gushed about how much he loved his mum. In 2016, Tristan talked about their relationship and said that no matter where he was or what was going on, they always made an effort to communicate daily and ask about the kids and mom. In honour of his mother and to thank her for all the “sacrifices” she made in raising him and his brother, Thompson wrote a touching Mother’s Day message in 2020. He screamed that he was “fortunate” to be referred to as her son and that one day wasn’t enough to hoist her up and praise her.
After playing basketball for the University of Texas in Austin in college, Tristan’s mother encouraged him to enter the professional ranks. The former Chicago Bulls player claimed in a video released on Instagram in May 2020 that his mother’s support in driving him to basketball tournaments while also making an effort to care for his brothers helped him significantly in realising his professional goals. He had stated, “Watching her do that and be a warrior and a champ, and how much she was prepared to sacrifice, really shows her love and devotion for her kids”.
Khloé Kardashian is right there by his side during this heartbreaking news, giving him comfort and support as he gets through this time for the next few days. They allegedly boarded a private plane at 10 o’clock on Thursday night to travel to be with his family. They have a baby boy and a daughter named True who is 4 years old. Khloé and Tristan’s mother Andrea were very close, so it’s not surprise that she visited Andrea after she passed away and supported Tristan and his family during their most trying times. Despite the fact that they haven’t been romantically linked in a while, they continue to co-parent their kids and celebrate important life milestones and holidays together. By going to Toronto with him, Khloé has obviously shown her support.
