In the upcoming seasons of Euphoria, Sydney Sweeney hopes Cassie has more interactions with a specific individual. Many of the HBO series cast members have their chance to shine as the drama of their lives plays out, even if Rue (Zendaya) receives much of the attention in the program. Due to her escalating fixation with her best friend’s ex-boyfriend Nate, Sweeney’s Cassie stood out among the adolescents in Euphoria season 2 as having both amusing and spooky emotional outbursts (Jacob Elordi).
Some Euphoria character pairings haven’t interacted as often as others because of the series’ big ensemble cast, which is made worse by the clique-like nature of the friendships featured in the show. This was brought up when Sweeney was questioned why her character doesn’t spend more time with Fezco, played by Angus Cloud, the kind and innocent heroin dealer who formed a sweet friendship with her sister Lexi (Maude Apatow) in Euphoria season 2. Is a connection between Cassie and Fez possible in the next season?
Depending on what happens to Fez after the Euphoria season 2 finale, Sweeney’s wish for greater screen time with Cloud in season 3 could be realized. Although the character was detained following the gun battle that resulted in the death of his adoptive younger brother Ash (Javon Walton), it is uncertain if he will still be behind bars by the time season 3 premieres, particularly if the season moves ahead in time as is anticipated. If Fez gets freed from jail in season 3 and can still move about freely, his encounters with Cassie may come about naturally due to his developing friendship with her sister.
If Fez decides to reveal the circumstances that caused him to miss Lexi’s play, their close relationship—which already has a sweet edge—could deepen and grow more trustworthy. In turn, Cassie could be compelled to engage with Fez more as a result of the interaction between Lexi and Fez. Given Cassie’s petty character, she may even attempt dating Fez to avenge her sister for the performance, which might cause conflict between Fez and Lexi in Euphoria season 3. If things go south between Fez and Lexi in season 3, Cassie could approach Fez in an effort to score some brownie points with her sister after observing her from Lexi’s point of view during the play.
Alternatively, if Cassie’s downward spiral continues, she may visit Fez in search of drugs or possibly a weapon since she thinks she needs to defend herself from Maddy (Alexa Demie) after their vicious battle. To fulfill Sweeney’s expectations for the following season, if Fez decides not to engage in illegal behavior in season 3 to avoid being jailed again, Cassie could end up being the one to put him behind bars once more. Her interaction with the beloved Fez in season 3 would undoubtedly be interesting as she became one of the most derided characters in Euphoria season 2.
