The Gossip Girl reboot season 2 episode 6 features Michelle Trachtenberg’s Georgina Sparks returning and features a similar original Gossip Girl plotline in which she attempts to disrupt a wedding. Georgina, who appeared in every season of Gossip Girl, gained the nickname “agent of chaos” because every time she was involved in a plan, it either sought to bring down Blair, Serena, Chuck, Nate, or Dan or at least partially aid them in eliminating a more formidable adversary. However, whereas Georgina had reasons to pursue the main characters from the original Gossip Girl because of her problems with them, in the Gossip Girl remake season 2 episode 6, “How to Bury a Millionaire,” Georgina pursues people that are ostensibly unrelated to her.

In the first season of Gossip Girl in 2021, Kate revived the Gossip Girl identity in an effort to hold the elites and their children responsible. While that momentarily improved the situation, all of the characters soon lost her influence over them, which led to the Gossip Girl remake failing Kate’s Gossip Girl because her portrayal of GG didn’t offer the same level of scandal and entertainment that the original Gossip Girl did. The introduction of Georgina in the second season of the Gossip Girl revival coincides with the admission that she paid Mike Shubin to figure out who Gossip Girl was. However, to resurrect Gossip Girl, chaos must be created, with Georgina becoming a victim at the Wolfe-Sachs’ vow renewal ceremony.

This wasn’t the first time Georgina tried to ruin someone’s wedding

Georgina has a history of attempting to ruin weddings; she did it in season 3 with Rufus and Lily’s nuptials and, more importantly, she was successful in Gossip Girl season 5 episode 13 with Blair and Louis Grimaldi’s royal nuptials. She was the one who recorded Blair telling Chuck about her sentiments, but she wasn’t the one who sent it to Gossip Girl, making her ultimately responsible for the repeated attempts to thwart Blair’s royal wedding but refraining from acting. Georgina still had a role in the publication, though, and was immediately identified as GG, demonstrating once more how the original Gossip Girl was meaner than the reboot.

In spite of the controversy, Louis and Blair eventually got married in a royal ceremony, however Gossip Girl season 5 episode 13 swiftly showed that marriage couldn’t have worked because Louis chose to trap Blair in the contract so as to avoid more humiliation. That was made certain by Louis’ mother Sophie’s authoritarian tendencies, Blair’s unwavering affection for Chuck, and Louis’ transformation into a villain. Nevertheless, Georgina enjoyed herself as an agent of chaos in Gossip Girl season 5, episode 13, gathering information to discredit the event and successfully disseminating it as Gossip Girl because she had access to the blog at the time.

In the Gossip Girl reboot season 2, episode 6, Georgina is successful in delaying the major vow renewal ceremony for Max’s parents. The ceremony still takes place at the home of Gideon, Roy, and Max despite her and Kate’s disarray. It was only a test to see if Kate could make Gossip Girl’s Instagram page awesome in the manner Georgina pictured it, which may be why Georgina was unsuccessful. The fact that Gideon and Roy already had a solid relationship also had something to do with it; their vow renewal ceremony was just an occasion that could be moved without having any negative effects on their relationship.
