In Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, Nicolas Cage confirms that he will not be returning as Spider-Man Noir. Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, a critically praised film that introduced a multitude of Spider-based characters from other realms, included Cage as the film’s monochrome hero. Along with Gwen Stacy, as Spider-Gwen, Peter B. Parker, aka Spider-Man, Spider-Ham, and Peni Parker, aka SP/dr, Spider-Man Noir aids Miles in becoming a hero and taking down Wilson Fisk. A monochrome universe from the 1930s has a Spider-Man Noir counterpart of Peter Parker.

Cage delivered some discouraging information on Spider-Man Noir’s participation in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse in an exclusive interview with Screen Rant to promote The Old Way. Spider-Man Noir is not one of the many Spider heroes from the universe that will appear in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, featuring the return of Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld), Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), and Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson). Although Cage is not currently reprising the role, he does indicate a desire to do so in the future.

Nicolas Cage: You’d have to ask Sony. I don’t know what’s going on with that. No one’s spoken to me about that. Ask them. I don’t know. I really don’t. I wish they would. I love Spider-Man Noir, too. I think that’s a great character. Spider-Man’s the coolest superhero. And then you combine that with Cagney and Bogart and Edward G. Robinson, come on, it’s a great character.

Is Spider-Man Noir Coming Back To The Spider-Verse?

Miles Morales’ transformation into Spider-Man was the main subject of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, which also introduced and briefly discussed the Spider-Verse. Even if several Spider-Men will be introduced in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, it appears that Spider-Man Noir won’t be one of them. Miles’ transformation into a hero was made possible by Cage’s love of Spider-Man and the old-school noir detectives, who together formed a singular and captivating hero.

There have been rumors concerning the return of Spider-Ham, Peni Parker (aka SP/dr), and Spider-Man Noir after they were conspicuously omitted from the Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse teaser. At least in regards to Spider-Man Noir, Cage appears to have provided a response; nevertheless, if he isn’t involved, it wouldn’t come as a surprise to find that the other two will not be making an appearance in the sequel. Although Miles and Gwen Stacy and Peter B. Parker grew closer relationships, the other three were as crucial to his transformation into Spider-Man.

While Cage’s announcement is sad, his enthusiasm for the role and curiosity suggests that he could come back in the future. The sequel to Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse, is scheduled for release in 2024. There will probably be other films and spin-offs if this sequel is as popular as the original. Even if he won’t appear in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, Cage will have plenty of chances to return as Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse or other films after that.
