Sydney Sweeney, who starred in The White Lotus, would ideally partner with one of her co-stars in a romantic comedy. In the first season of The White Lotus, Sweeney played the affluent Olivia Mossbacher, a college student who traveled to Hawaii with her family and friend Paula (Brittany O’Grady). Sweeney, who is most known for playing Cassie in Euphoria, took on a more understated role in Sam Levinson’s lighter and humorous HBO drama The White Lotus.
Sweeney reacted to a message asking to see her in more romantic comedies in a British GQ video. The actor admitted that even though she enjoyed the genre, she was hesitant to try comedy until she got a part in The White Lotus, which made her think about doing additional comic roles. Sweeney offered a romantic comedy that would include her and Jennifer Coolidge as the leads. As the only performer to appear in both seasons of The White Lotus (her character’s spouse made brief cameos in season 2), Coolidge portrays Tanya McQuoid in seasons 1 and 2. Coolidge rose to fame for her seductive appearance and comedic skills after playing Stifler’s (Seann William Scott) mother in the 1999 film American Pie. She just returned to the public eye thanks largely to her heartbreaking and funny performances in both seasons of The White Lotus. Sadly, due to her untimely passing in season 2, which was shown this year, it seems doubtful that her character will make a comeback in The White Lotus season 3.
There have been rumors regarding whether another well-known figure may appear in The White Lotus season 3 since that Coolidge won’t be a recurrent character to help connect the seasons of the anthology program. While Greg (Jon Gries), Tanya’s husband, has been given consideration, his unpopularity, especially in light of the events of season 2, makes him an unlikely choice to continue Tanya’s dazzling legacy.
