The creators of the television show The Last of Us, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, have spoke about what would happen in season 2. Pedro Pascal plays the grizzled survivor Joel Miller in the HBO adaption, which is based on the same-named 2013 PlayStation 3 video game. It focuses on his friendship with the bright 14-year-old orphan Ellie, who is portrayed by Bella Ramsey of Game of Thrones.

Druckmann said, “We have no plans to tell any stories beyond adapting the games. We won’t run into the same issue as Game of Thrones since Part II doesn’t end on a cliffhanger.” While Mazin, “I don’t have any interest in a spinning-plates-go-on-forever show. When it becomes a perpetual motion machine, it just can’t help but get kind of … stupid. Endings mean everything to me.”

According to Mazin and Druckmann, The Last of Us season 2 will probably stick to the plot of the video game The Last of Us Part II. The show won’t be continued indefinitely just because the studio can, according to Mazin, a self-described superfan of both games.
