The voice actor for all the clones in Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Dee Bradley Baker, is teasing a difficult emotional journey for a former member of Clone Force 99. Clone Force 99 split up in Star Wars: The Bad Batch season one because Crosshair was unable to withstand the Empire’s influence due to his inhibitor chip. The genetically altered clones were forced to leave Kamino — and their brother — behind while the others succeeded to resist Order 66. However, there was nothing they could do for Crosshair. Crosshair finally removed his inhibitor chip, but he never went back to his brethren since he felt betrayed by the Bad Batch.

In season 2 of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Crosshair will appear alongside Commander Cody, who betrayed Obi-Wan Kenobi when Palpatine ordered him to carry out Order 66. Baker says it will be a challenge for the ex-member of Clone Force 99, even though he may be facing a confrontation that may force him to turn on his own comrades once more. The crosshair will be the focus of a complex and emotional narrative that will drive him to his lowest point yet, Baker says in an interview with ComicBook.com. Here is a quotation from Baker:

And on the other side of it, I think for me the most meaningful and affecting was the outpost episode with Crosshair to see how he’s taken to the limits of his extreme in a heartbreaking way. But that plays out as this very personal climb to a revelation, to a moment, to a break, and to bring his character, who is typically tough, and kind of grumpy, and not saying very much to this state of transformation, or revelation, for me, it’s like, wow, I think I actually like him the best now. He’s the most compelling and interesting character of all of them. And I love them all very much, but to bring that out in Crosshair, I think fans are really gonna go nuts for it. It’s really a fascinating journey that he’s on.

What the future holds for Crosshair

Crosshair has continued to support the Empire after having his inhibitor chip taken out. Crosshair has never faltered, even as he fights to save his brothers, in spite of the fact that the Empire blatantly attempted to assassinate him after suspecting him of betrayal and treason. Crosshair needs to be made right in season 2 of Star Wars: The Bad Batch if he wants to keep being a captivating character. Otherwise, his relationship with the Batch will rapidly become boring due to its will-he-won’t-he nature. The forthcoming season may allow Crosshair to recognize his error and rejoin the Batch given that he will be working with Commander Cody, who has also been under the grip of an inhibitor chip.

Details about The Bad Batch Season 2

Along with Echo and Omega, the whole original Bad Batch squad will return for Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2, but additional well-known Star Wars characters, including Emperor Palpatine, Captain Rex, the Clone Commandos, and Admiral Rampart, will also make appearances. The season will also include an increased sense of isolation for the Bad Batch due to the Empire’s significant changes from season 1 as it gradually phases out the clones. The opposing stormtroopers will start to increase in size, prominence, power, and their usual inability to fire a shot accurately.

The Bad Batch will need to work together to keep Omega safe after learning that she is truly the only genetic descendant of Jango Fett, even if information regarding the following season is scant. The clones may seek revenge on the Empire after Kamino is destroyed, which would explain why they are exterminated so fast before the first film in the original Star Wars trilogy. In Star Wars: The Bad Batch, another Jedi tragedy—the death of the Wookiee Jedi Gungi—follows Order 66, thus if there is a revolution, it will be fiercely resisted.
