Charlie Cox provides an update on whether Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be a variation with Daredevil: Born Again on the way, and it is as hazy as the universe itself. After starring in Netflix’s Daredevil, the strong, low-level lawyer-turned-superhero garnered praise. He has since made another appearance in the MCU’s Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Matt Murdock will have the opportunity to battle crime on television once more with another of his own coming, and Cox will be taking on the job.

To be determined is whether Kang the Conqueror from the forthcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be a multiverse variety or if the character from the Netflix series Daredevil: Born Again will appear in the film. It’s still unclear if the narrative of Born Again’s Daredevil can be regarded as canon or not. Cox attempts to respond to the query in an interview with inews.co.uk. Sadly, his reply isn’t all that helpful. See what he said below:

“I don’t think it’s a different character. I just think it’s maybe a different period of his life. I don’t think my interpretation will change – they hired the same actor. We’re saying this is a whole new… era, or variant? I haven’t read the scripts, so I don’t know. But like, it’s part of the multiverse?”

Do the Netflix Marvel shows fit into the continuity of the MCU?

There are more Marvel Netflix characters besides Daredevil, who is arguably the most well-known. The position of characters like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Elektra, and the Punisher in the MCU’s canon is still up for debate. They are still waiting for the chance to make a comeback in the MCU. The good news is that Cox already stated that Daredevil is the same character from the Netflix episodes, which means that his contacts with all of the Defenders are still considered to be part of MCU canon. As a result, even if Murdock may appear in variations in Daredevil: Born Again, his appearances in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Spider-Man: No Way Home had established his existence.

Overview of Daredevil: Born Again

Daredevil: Born Again’s first season will include 18 episodes, which is a staggering number compared to other Disney+ programs. Even though the Netflix episodes were canceled, Daredevil: Born Again will be the first film solely devoted to the protagonist; nevertheless, it won’t be Murdock’s next outing. Cox is making a comeback in Echo before Daredevil: Born Again, a move that suggests that Murdock may genuinely be assembling a squad of his own. Murdock is beginning to establish a reputation outside of Hell’s Kitchen thanks to his friendship with She-Hulk and the connection he is now developing with Echo. This may be a sign that Marvel Studios wants to make Murdock the star of the street-level Marvel scene.

Alongside Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio will be reprising his role as Wilson Fisk, but there is not yet word on whether the other Netflix Daredevil actors will be returning for the series. It is unclear if the actors who originally portrayed Foggy Nelson and Karen Page will reprise their roles in Daredevil: Born Again. The show may deviate from the source material and surprise both fans of the comics and the show with its plot. The new season is expected to be released on Disney+ in spring 2024.
