A recently released BTS video for the movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness exposes a mysterious figure who was dropped from the final edit. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel, Benedict Cumberbatch’s titular sorcerer teamed up with Benedict Wong’s Wong to try and protect the young America Chavez from Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda, who had taken on the persona of the Scarlet Witch and wanted to harness America’s abilities so she could reunite with her twin sons in an alternate reality. In the end, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness made $985 million worldwide and received generally favorable reviews from reviewers and viewers, particularly for its multiversal characters, one of which didn’t actually exist.

A new mysterious figure deleted from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was included in a BTS scene presented in a new Insider video. During her struggle with the multiversal crew, which featured Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic played by John Krasinski, Wanda can fly about the Illuminati hall in the video. You may catch a glimpse of a mysterious individual who has died after being impaled by a sword during the video; Wanda, most certainly. View the instance below:

Who is the mystery character?

The completed sequence from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness makes it quite clear that the unknown figure was an Illuminati member who lost his life against Wanda. Wanda fought a multiverse team of heroes known as the Illuminati in the film, using the name of a significant group from Marvel Comics. This team included Patrick Stewart returning as Professor Charles Xavier, Hayley Atwell as Captain Carter, Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau/Captain Marvel, Anson Mount as the leader of the Inhumans, Black Bolt, John Krasinski as Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the Illuminati had a brief existence.

A recent piece of concept art from the film suggests that the individual who has been often discussed throughout the press tour for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is Balder the Brave, the unknown figure who is impaled by Wanda in the BTS video. According to reports, James Bond and Knives Out star Daniel Craig was set to portray Balder in the film, but Craig reportedly withdrew owing to an increase in COVID-19 throughout the course of filming. Craig’s portrayal of Balder the Brave in the concept painting is an exact replica of the figure from the video, complete with cloak and sword. In the comics, Balder is Thor’s half-brother, so it would be fascinating to see how that would play out in the MCU.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness nonetheless managed to produce a satisfactory Illuminati roster that featured big names and original members of the team from the comics, despite the fact that Craig portraying Thor’s brother would have been a terrific addition to the film. In Marvel Comics, the Illuminati act covertly and make the difficult decisions that the Avengers are unable to. The Illuminati punished Doctor Strange for his misdeeds in the movie by having Black Bolt kill him after killing Thanos. Such a somber tale would have fit in just well with the comics team as well.
