The eagerly awaited next Marvel Cinematic Universe project from Kevin Smith has been announced. The MCU will be providing the market with content for many years to come with 10 films already confirmed and multiple Disney+ series in the works. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has begun a period of reconstruction following Thanos’ attack in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. During this time, new heroes like Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) and Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) have joined the MCU’s expanding cast of characters, and the MCU’s next significant antagonist, the mighty Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), has also been introduced.

Kevin Smith, a producer known for his work on Clerks and Masters of the Universe: Revelation, is an accomplished filmmaker and comic book enthusiast who shares our excitement for the upcoming phase. Smith has previously shown his support for James Gunn, but he is now speaking out about his thoughts on the upcoming Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kevin Smith recently stated on an episode of his podcast Fat Man Beyond that he cannot wait to see Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Smith said in an interview with Comicbook.com, “What am I looking most forward to… Quantumania, man. The beginning of Kang the Conqueror. Can’t wait. It looks f*****g badass. It looks bleak. I think some bad s**t happens to Ant-Man at the end. I’m here for it. I love Paul Rudd, but I’m ready to see Ant-Man face his trial as he deals with Kang.”

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania

There are many reasons to be excited for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, since the film has the potential to completely transform the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There is a legitimate reason why Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is violating Ant-own Man’s history by beginning the phase, even though Ant-Man movies typically come at the conclusion of each phase. The team of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), and needs to find a way out of the Quantum Realm as soon as possible. Kang the Conqueror will be there to assist as a result.

Even though Kang is a bad guy, he will be a crucial ally for Ant-Man and his squad if they ever hope to leave the Quantum Realm. The movie will need to examine Janet’s complicated relationship with Kang, who appears ready to make a deal with the wayward heroes, since reports already suggest that Janet will be playing a larger role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania due to the time she already spent trapped in the Quantum Realm. Kang’s mere presence will cause huge disruption to everyone in the Ant-Man universe and the MCU as a whole, especially with Cassie joining for her first significant assignment and having to learn the ins and outs of being a superhero.

Since Kang will be reintroduced in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in the wake of Loki’s conclusion, the film will need to reestablish the antagonist for a larger audience while also highlighting the differences between this Kang and He Who Remains. As additional Young Avengers, including Wiccan, Speed, and the younger Hawkeye, start to make appearances in the MCU, the project has to investigate how Cassie is significant to Ant-storyline Man’s and establish her as a potential legacy hero. One of the main reasons Kevin Smith and many others are so enthusiastic for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is that it will have to do a lot of significant building work for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
