Regé-Jean Page of ‘Bridgerton’ calls his horse Twiglet a ‘Diva’

Everything Rege Jean Page Has Said About Bridgerton Return After Exit 0003

Regé-Jean Page gained notoriety in the latter half of 2020 due to his inclusion in the cast of the Netflix original Bridgerton. The actor has been open about his time filming the historical romance, citing working with his horse Twiglet as one of the pleasures.

The actor detailed the shooting process and referred to his horse on the program as a “diva” in an interview published in 2020 when Bridgerton Season 1 premiered.

Regé-Jean Page starred as The Duke of Hastings in ‘Bridgerton’

Few fans of popular culture were aware of the handsome actor who played Simon Basset, The Duke of Hastings, when Bridgerton premiered on Netflix in December 2020. But before long, everyone was speculating about him. Many acclaimed Page as the series’ breakthrough star when he created a stir with his depiction of the dashing but troubled duke. Even though Page did not return for Season 2, he continues to have a strong connection to the Bridgerton universe, and many fans are hoping that he will reprise the role that he helped to popularise.

Even though many audiences would want to see Page return to Bridgerton, the actor seems content with his present circumstances. After the Season 1 cliffhanger, Page and Shonda Rhimes expressed their extreme happiness in an interview with Good Morning America. Page claimed that the creators of Bridgerton “aren’t going to disturb” the character of Simon Basset because his and Daphne’s characters are married and appear to be living happily ever after. He is okay with the showrunners changing the cast, though.

Regé-Jean Page referred to his horse Twiglet as a diva

It was both a dream come true and a lovely feast for the eyes of those who love historical dramas when Bridgerton made its Netflix debut in 2020. Since the program takes place during the Regency era, many of the characters are regularly seen either riding horses or traveling in horse-drawn carriages. The actors had to work with a number of equine stars while filming the program, with each actor having their own horse. Page was asked to explain his horseback riding experience in Bridgerton during a Shondaland interview. The actor replied by labeling his horse a diva and saying:

“Every moment on Twiglet, my horse in Bridgerton, was memorable. That horse was a diva. Halfway through takes, the show’s horses would decide they’d had enough and wander back to their trailer. Bear in mind, Twiglet would do this whether I was riding him or not.”

Regé-Jean Page disclosed that some of the horses in ‘Bridgerton’ were fake

Bridgerton’s vast cast of equine stars was a true feast for the eyes, with lovely gowns, elegant fans, and a few lectures on why it’s not a good idea to go on a promenade without a chaperone. Twiglet was one of the actual horses, although not all of them were. In a December 2020 interview with Still Watching Netflix, Page remarked on the distinctive experience of filming the Bridgerton carriage sequences, acknowledging that many of the series’ horses are made of plastic. He declared, “They’re not really horses at all.

“We filmed the carriage scenes in the studio. Usually, it’s just like three grips … you’re just sat there, and you have a green screen in the background, and it’s just like, ‘OK, make the horses go faster,’ and then you hear three guys go ‘ugh….’”

Despite the special effects used to capture the carriage sequences, the results seemed realistic on television. In fact, many viewers thought the sweet moments Daphne and Simon enjoyed in the carriage were the series’ most memorable high points.
