Witcher actor playfully comments on Jaskier’s seemingly immortal nature

Jaskier and Geralt in The Witcher Season 2

When asked why Jaskier in The Witcher hasn’t aged a day, Joey Batey provides a humorous response. Geralt of Rivia, the game’s lone protagonist, explores the globe in The Witcher as he makes an effort to slay monsters everywhere. He finds a small child named Ciri of Cintra (Freya Allan), who has a destiny connected to Geralt as a result of his many years ago use of the Law of Surprise. As Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra), a sorceress, learns to wield magic and develops into a strong magician, the plot also regularly diverts to follow her trip. Along the way, she meets Ciri and Geralt.

Naturally, only some characters in The Witcher take themselves too seriously. A bard named Jaskier (Joey Batey), also known as Julian Alfred Pankratz, chooses to travel with Geralt in an effort to write a song about the man’s exploits. Despite the lengthy period of the program, several viewers have noticed that the character never seems to mature. In actuality, nobody was aware of Jaskier’s alleged age. Bates has attempted to describe why the character appears so young at such a late point in the show’s narrative in an interview with Digital Spy. See what he said below:

I will always say there’s one quote in the book when someone’s describing Jaskier: he’s pushing 40, he looks 30, he thinks he’s 20, and he acts like he’s 10. And that pretty much sums him up. If you look at photos of me from 10, 15 years ago, I haven’t changed. I have a child’s face anyway. In terms of immortality, no comment. But we all know it?

What is the cause of the ambiguity regarding Jaskier’s age?

The Witcher’s first season alone covers a span of more than 50 years, from 1210 to 1263. Jaskier would be decades older by the time he makes another appearance, given that Geralt and Jaskier first meet in 1210, yet the character, who is essentially human, only appears to have aged a few months over that time. The Witcher is made more perplexed by Jaskier’s history because he is not genuinely magical. The Witcher season 2 pokes fun at the complaints, but at least the timing makes more sense. Season 1 received significant criticism since there are several issues about when events are supposed to be happening.

Witcher Season 3: What we know

There will be some significant changes in The Witcher season 3, which is presently under production. Similar to Stranger Things, the season is considering a two-part release method to provide people more time for speculating and developing theories. The Witcher showrunner Lauren S. Hissirch promised Henry Cavill a “heroic sendoff” during the season, but the major change that has sparked outrage worldwide is that Cavill will leave the series after season 3. To make the quick switch to Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) less jarring, the program will need to foreshadow it.

In addition to paying tribute to Cavill’s time as Geralt, the season will also witness the return of Ciri, Yennefer, Codringher (Simon Callow), and Fenn (Lizz Carr). The third season of The Witcher will be an adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s Time of Contempt, which will see Ciri and Yennefer learning magic as Geralt is caught up in a coup. Since Hissrich has stated that season 3 would adhere closely to the book, many fans will enter the season already familiar with the main narrative. Meanwhile, Jaskier is anticipated to have a love interest, allowing the supposedly indestructible guy to finally profit from a tale of his own.
