Records have been broken for the franchise by the Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials trailer. Doctor Who, the longest-running sci-fi television programme in history, made its début in 1963 and has already shown more than 850 episodes. The 60th anniversary of the franchise will occur in 2023, and numerous special episodes are planned to debut in November of that year to mark the milestone. Both the forthcoming Fifteenth Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa, and the recently regenerate Fourteenth Doctor, David Tennant, will appear in the specials. Also anticipated are several actors from the Doctor Who series, including the late Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott.

A teaser trailer for the 60th anniversary specials was released on December 25 by the official Doctor Who YouTube page, and the clip is already smashing huge records for the show. With 2 million views in just four days, the video has received the most views for a Doctor Who trailer on YouTube since 2018. With over 74,000 likes, it is also the most liked official Doctor Who trailer on YouTube ever. It also had the best debut ever for an official Doctor Who trailer, with 1.5 million views in just one day.

There has been a lot of anticipation for the Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials. Since it was revealed that they would be working on a project with former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies in 2021, anticipation has been high. Fans of the sci-fi franchise didn’t get a preview of what is to come until the teaser trailer that was released earlier this year. The inclusion of diverse elements from the franchise’s decades of legend in the Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials is also generating excitement since it allows for it to be an epic event celebrating Doctor Who’s legacy and laying the groundwork for the future.

The Doctor Who 60th anniversary teaser showed Neil Patrick Harris debuting as a beloved series villain. He’s probably the Celestial Toymaker, who hasn’t been seen on TV since 1966. Additionally, it gave a brief glimpse at Beep the Meep, an adorable creature who is actually a galactic conqueror, and a Wrarth Warrior, a type of interplanetary law enforcement. Additionally, there are suspicions that the previous Doctors of Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi will make an appearance in the Doctor Who 60th anniversary special episodes.

The anniversary specials are eagerly anticipated by fans, who are excited to see old-school Doctor Who enemies return to the screen and to see Gatwa succeed Tennant as the Fifteenth Doctor. While there isn’t a specific release date yet, viewers will have to wait less than a year until the episodes’ anticipated November 2023 broadcast. The 60th anniversary Doctor Who specials may also set some major records if the trailer’s enormous popularity is any indicator.
