The Marvel Cinematic Universe to date

Marvel Studios to Unveil an Official, Comprehensive MCU Timeline 2

With each new installment since 2008’s Iron Man, the shared world has grown, touching on both the distant past and even the near future, thanks to a five-year time jump established in Avengers: Endgame. The season finale of Loki on Disney+ and the events of What If…? introduced the idea of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s multiverse, making the already complex primary MCU much more difficult to follow.

The idea has been mentioned in Phase 4 of the MCU, which also marks the beginning of the “Multiverse Saga.” With reference to the Disney+ series, Spider-Man: No Way Home was able to employ that idea to introduce the various Spider-Man audiences are accustomed to. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness examined similar worlds and variations of the titular superhero. However, Marvel Studios is developing a much bigger plot starring Kang the Conqueror and an occasion motivated by the Secret Wars comic book crossover.

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars were both unveiled in July. Although The Kang Dynasty’s title implies that at least one Kang variety would play a significant role, specifics about the ensemble movie have not yet been made public. The same is true with Secret Wars, which borrows its name from the 1984–85 comic book saga. In the comic book crossover, the Beyonder sent superheroes who didn’t want to go there to Battleworld, where they had to take on a tiny army of supervillains.
