Stephen Greif passed away at 78

Stephen Greif passed away. He was best known for his parts in Blake’s 7 and The Crown. His representatives Michelle Braidman Associates reported his passing on Twitter. The associates posted the following on social media, “With great sadness we announce the death of our wonderful client Stephen Greif. His extensive career included numerous roles on screen and stage, including at the National Theatre, RSC and in the West End. We will miss him dearly and our thoughts are with his family and friends.”

Fans have been posting condolences and loving tributes to the deceased actor on the microblogging website ever since the news of his passing broke. In Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, England, on August 24, 1944, Stephen Greif was born. He attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art as a student. Following graduation, he joined the National Theatre Company at the Old Vic and Southbank.

He appeared in a number of theatre productions, such as Macbeth, Richard II, The School for Scandal, and The Merchant of Venice. Later, he appeared in a number of British television shows, including Dixon of Dock Green, The Protectors, and The Persuaders. He became well-known, though, because to his role as Space Commander Travis in the beloved BBC science fiction series Blake’s 7.

Grief was not just a skilled actor but also a playwright for both stage and screen. For directing well-known plays including Romeo & Juliet at the Royal National Theatre and Henry VIII at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, he has won accolades. Both of these plays were popular and won praise from the critics. Greif experimented with teaching in addition to performing and directing. He trained young and aspiring performers in the craft while teaching acting at the School of Dramatic Arts at the University of Southern California.

Stephen’s passing shocked his devoted coworkers, admirers, and family. According to media sources, the cause of the eminent actor’s passing has not yet been disclosed. Greif passed suddenly on Monday, and his representatives informed him of his passing eight hours later. His identical sons Joseph and Daniel are his only heirs.
