When Shadow and Bone’s first season debuted on Netflix, it immediately became popular, especially among readers of Leigh Bardugo’s YA novel series. Based on the author’s best-selling books, the Netflix fantasy series combined Bardugo’s Grisha trilogy and “Six of Crows” duology into one series, adding a variety of adored characters and a more intricate plot. Fans are naturally excited to see how the story of Alina Starkov, the Darkling, and the Crows will develop now that it has been confirmed that the popular series will return for Season 2.

TVLine has unveiled an exclusive first look at the new Shadow and Bone season, which will air on the streaming service on March 16 of next year and depicts Genya enraged about something. The image doesn’t reveal much, but it begs a lot of questions about why the queen is staring at Genya the way she is in the picture and what was so upsetting to Genya. However, given that the final episode of Season 1 finished with an explosive turn of events, it is natural why Genya looked unhappy, and the picture in some ways foreshadows what Season 2 will bring to the table.

Shadow and Bone Storyline

On April 23, 2021, the first episode of the first season aired, with Eric Heisserer in charge. The plot follows adolescent Alina Starkov as she learns that she is a Grisha, blessed with the power to manipulate the elements in a variety of ways, whether it be to engage in combat, heal, or conjure sunlight. With a scary new army of virtually immortal shadow monsters and potent new Grisha recruits, Kirigan, the shadow summoner, will be as perilous as ever in the second season. To have a chance against Kirigan, Alina must assemble her own strong allies and travel. Alina is on the run and determined to bring down the Shadow Fold and save Ravka in the second season, which is promised to be full of adventure, danger, and an epic story.

The majority of the cast, including Jessie Mei Li as Alina, Ben Barnes as General Kirigan or The Darkling, Archie Renaux as Mal Oretsev, Freddy Carter as Kaz Brekker, Amita Suman as Inej Ghafa, Danielle Galligan as Nina Zenik, and Calahan Skogman as Matthias Helvar, will return for season 2 of the Netflix fantasy series. As Season 2 progresses, viewers can anticipate seeing both new and familiar faces, including the entrance of much awaited characters like Wylan Hendriks (Jack Wolfe), Nikolai Lantsov (Patrick Gibson), Tolya Yul-Bataar (Lewis Tan), and Tamar Kir-Bataar (Anna Leong Brophy). The second season of Shadow and Bone will debut on Netflix with eight episodes, just like the first, and continue to be directed by Heisserer.
