Christopher McQuarrie answers a supporter who suggests that he could helm the upcoming Superman film. Since James Gunn and Peter Safran were appointed co-CEOs, the past few months have been exciting and controversial for the renamed DC Studios. Henry Cavill will not be playing Superman again, despite the post-credits sequence featuring Black Adam, according to Gunn, who made the news as part of their first big statement about their vision for the new DC Universe (formerly known as the DCEU). Instead, a new Superman film centered on the character as a child is in the works.

Although Gunn may be a possibility, there are currently no known possible filmmakers for the upcoming Superman movie. Gunn is currently penning the script. Christopher McQuarrie recently received a tweet from a fan suggesting he take the helm of the upcoming Superman film (or something else for DC). In response to the fan, the director—who is now working on Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two—made a joke about Pom Klementieff, which elicited a response from the actress. Christopher McQuarrie’s Relationship With DC Explained

Mission: Impossible Director Reacts To Superman Film Proposal 2

The several projects that McQuarrie worked on with Tom Cruise are what made him most well-known, particularly the growingly ambitious Mission: Impossible series. He was first hired for some uncredited rewrites on Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol in 2011, and he subsequently came back to helm Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation in 2015 and Mission: Impossible – Fallout in 2018. Henry Cavill played August Walker, the main antagonist, in the most current film in the series.

There were rumors that McQuarrie was being considered as a potential director for Man of Steel 2 not long after working with Cavill on Mission: Impossible – Fallout. McQuarrie had previously been assigned to a Green Lantern Corps. film for DC, but neither project was ever completed. For the brief period following the post-credits sequence in Black Adam when it was thought that Cavill might reprise the part, McQuarrie was once more considered as a potential director for Man of Steel 2.

McQuarrie’s name is being bandied about as a prospective director once more as a result of the fact that Gunn is penning a new Superman film. Apart from joking that Klementieff appears in both Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy as Mantis and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Parts One and Two in an unspecified role, McQuarrie’s remark does imply he would be open to working with the new DC head in the future, whether it be on the Superman movie or another endeavor. The outcome is uncertain when Gunn and Safran outline their new DCU slate early in the next year.
