In response to the continuing discussion about nepotism in Hollywood, Kate Hudson noted that it occurs much more frequently in other fields and expressed her dislike for the phrase “nepo baby.” Kate was also covered by New York Magazine’s Year of the Nepo-Baby feature, which helped spark the conversation about nepotism. Kate is the daughter of Hollywood veterans Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson.

The feature consists of a long range of celebrities in addition to Kate, such as Dakota Johnson, John David Washington, Lily-Rose Depp, Maude Apatow, Ben Platt, and Maya Hawke to mention a few. On her Instagram earlier, the star Jamie Lee Curtis also made a statement about the same discussion, claiming that while nepotism is a serious problem, the ongoing argument is only serving to hurt and reduce its impact.

The Academy Award-nominated actress added to the conversation while promoting her most recent movie, Glass Onion, the Knives Out sequel directed by Rian Johnson. “I don’t care where you come from, or what your relationship to the business is. If you work hard and you kill it, it doesn’t matter,” the actor claimed in an interview with The Independent. She added, “The nepotism thing, I mean, I don’t really care. I look at my kids and we’re a storytelling family. It’s definitely in our blood. People can call it whatever they want, but it’s not going to change it. I actually think there are other industries where it’s [more common]. Maybe modelling? I see it in business way more than I see it in Hollywood. Sometimes I’ve been in business meetings where I’m like, wait, whose child is this? Like, this person knows nothing.”

According to the Glass Onion actor, nepotism is a problem throughout all sectors of the economy. It also exists in other industries. This is a point that the coverage itself has made, given its in-depth examination of the occurrence of nepotism in other sectors including fashion, sports, and publishing.

The sequel to Knives Out, Glass Onion, has received positive reviews. With another murder to investigate, Benoit Blanc, the fictional investigator played by Daniel Craig, is back. Along with Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Madelyn Cline, and Dave Bautista, the ensemble cast also includes Edward Norton and Edward Norton Jr. On December 23, the movie appeared on Netflix.
