Dave Bautista praises everyone who helped make Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery possible in a few short but heartfelt comments as he celebrates the film’s Netflix debut.

Bautista posted a video of himself on the Glass Onion set with the production staff and director Rian Johnson on Twitter along with the message, “Thank you to the cast, crew, and to everyone that watches #GlassOnion. The former WWE star and actor even brought his Championship belt to the set, which he allowed Johnson to don while praising the cast and crew for their hard work in the background. “I don’t enjoy delivering speeches,” he revealed, calling them “my least favorite aspect of the movie because I don’t like people applauding me when everyone in this fucking room has worked harder than me on this movie. So, while I stand here and claim to have accomplished something remarkable, I feel like a phony. I’m grateful to you all.”

Dave Bautista’s Part in the Film Knives Out

Bautista portrays the supporting role of Duke Cody in the film Glass Onion. Duke Cody is a well-known online gamer and Men’s Rights activist with links to tech tycoon Miles Bron. In the film, which is set during the early COVID-19 months, Duke and his girlfriend Whiskey (Madeline Clyne), along with a number of prominent media and political figures, accept a puzzle box invitation to Miles’ murder mystery island party. However, the event is abruptly interrupted by detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig).

Craig and Bautista previously collaborated on the James Bond movie Spectre, but the former noted that his co-star seemed considerably happier this time “There wasn’t a lot of interaction with the entire group on Spectre. Glass Onion, however, was the whole opposite. We were constantly in a group. I, therefore, got to know him better as a person and really witness him at work.”

Glass Onion had a restricted one-week theatrical run to promote its Netflix launch after receiving positive reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival. It would only make $15 million at the box office, falling short of the $26 million the first week that the original Knives Out made. Johnson’s third Knives Out film will also be released by Netflix, although it’s unclear if the streaming giant will once again follow the theatrical distribution approach.

In his next film, Knock at the Cabin, Bautista portrays one of four characters who are trying to prevent the end of the world by kidnapping a girl and her fathers. Additionally, he will return to his roles as Drax the Destroyer and Glossu Rabban in the upcoming 2023 films Dune: Part Two and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
