Zachary Levi is discussing his likely exit from Shazam! while the DC Universe goes through a significant transition.
Levi discussed his future as the titular superhero on Instagram Live, which was eventually broadcast on the Shazam Updates Twitter feed. While he is unsure of what will occur after Shazam! Fury of the Gods, the actor feels at ease with whatever James Gunn and Peter Safran, the co-presidents of DC Studios, decided to accomplish. “As of right now, I’m still that character, and I have no idea what will ultimately happen to me. I believe I’m in an excellent situation “Levi remarked. If they want to go in a different route, he said, “them’s the breaks, that’s how it works.”
There have been casualties as Gunn and Safran develop their ambitious ideas for the DC Universe. The first significant alteration was the studio’s statement that Wonder Woman 3 would not be produced. According to reports, director Patty Jenkins offered a treatment that didn’t correspond to what Warner Bros. Discovery had in mind for the brand. This also spurred rumors that Gal Gadot had been “booted” from playing the lead role, although Gunn soon disproved those claims.

Following the announcement of Wonder Woman 3, it was made known that Gunn is penning a new Superman movie that would center on the character’s formative years. This meant that Cavill would not be playing the Man of Steel again, as he had planned to do so with a cameo during the Black Adam mid-credits sequence. “I recently met with James Gunn and Peter Safran, and it’s terrible news for everyone. In any case, I won’t be returning as Superman. Cavill delivered a formal letter. “This isn’t the best news, but life is like that,”
A similar outcome just befell Black Adam’s future in the DC Universe. Levi will make a comeback in Shazam! between now and then. The follow-up to the 2019 DC Extended Universe smash is called Fury of the Gods. The film was directed by David F. Sandberg and centers on a group of young superheroes headed by Billy Batson/Shazam as they battle the Daughters of Atlas. The sequel also features Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu, Helen Mirren, and Levi.
