The sixth and final season of the critically acclaimed drama series Snowfall will premiere on FX on February 22, 2023. It will also stream the following day on Hulu and on Disney+ under the Star name internationally. The first two episodes of the season will air before fresh episodes begin airing every week.
The first season’s approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes is 62% based on 63 reviews, with an average rating of 6.2/10. “Snowfall struggles to construct a compelling drama from its different tales, despite Singleton’s faithful reproduction of 1983 Los Angeles and a great lead performance from Damson Idris,” the website’s critical consensus for the show’s first season states. The series has 47 reviews and a Metacritic score of 63 out of 100, which indicates “generally acceptable reviews.”
Snowfall, which made its debut in 2017, is set in Los Angeles in the 1980s and tells the experiences of several characters as their narratives converge and overlap during the crack cocaine pandemic that was caused by an undercover CIA operation. As drug lord Frank Saint (Damson Idris) finds himself in an apparently hopeless situation with numerous government agencies eager to take him down, including the DEA, CIA, and even the KGB, a “civil war” is destined to tear the Saint family apart in the sixth season. Now, everything he has created is in danger of disintegrating.
In April 2022, in the middle of the fifth season’s airing, Snowfall was renewed for a sixth and final season. Due to its captivating plot and vibrant characters, the show received raving reviews from both reviewers and viewers. Ten episodes will make up the final season, maintaining parity with the five that came before it. President of Original Programming at FX, Nick Grad, commented on how excited it is to give the team a chance to wrap up their tale and during the announcement of the new season renewal and “bring Snowfall to a climactic finale showcasing the brilliance of everyone involved, from the stellar cast led by Damson Idris, to the writers, directors, artists, and crew.”
