Amber Heard says that she and Johnny Depp have resolved their dispute over defamation

Amber Heard claims she and her ex-husband Johnny Depp have resolved their dispute over defamation. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor filed a $50 million slander lawsuit against Heard in May. Heard’s 2018 op-ed article for The Washington Post caused the highly publicized trial. Heard writes of being a victim of sexual harassment and assault in Hollywood in her article, calling herself a “public figure symbolizing domestic abuse.” Heard stated the article had a significant impact on both his personal and professional lives, even though he did not specifically mention Depp by name. He cited the essay as the reason he lost roles.

Heard now claims she has resolved her defamation lawsuit against Depp in a statement uploaded to Instagram, despite the fact that both parties appealed the judgment. She claims that her “unprotected testimony functioned as entertainment and social media fodder,” and Heard expresses her dissatisfaction with the American court system. The jury’s verdict will stand, and Depp and Heard will each make their respective contributions. Check out Heard’s quote below:

What Will Happen To Amber Heard’s Career?

The most recent report from Heard appears to signal the conclusion of a protracted legal dispute between the two. Depp filed a lawsuit against the British tabloid The Sun in 2020 because they dubbed him a “wife abuser” in an article. A similar trial occurred in the U.K. in 2020. Even though Depp’s libel case was unsuccessful, Heard also testified. Heard requested a mistrial in the 2022 trial, but the court rejected her request after the jury’s decision was revealed. In a statement released in response to the settlement, Depp’s legal team expressed their satisfaction and said they were “pleased to formally close the door on this sad chapter for Mr. Depp, who made clear throughout this process that his goal was about bringing the truth to light.”

Heard and Depp are gradually returning to acting, despite the fact that a film about the trial, Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial, has already debuted on Tubi. Although there has been a lot of conjecture over Heard’s part in the movie, she will reprise her role as Mera in DC’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Walter Hamada, the then-president of DC Films, quickly refuted those reports during testimony during the trial, despite Heard’s claims that her scenes were considerably trimmed as a result of poor press. In the Fire will also include her as a psychotherapist from New York. In 2023, Depp will return in Mawenn’s historical drama Jeanne Du Barry as King Louis XV, continuing one of the most successful careers in Hollywood.
