The comedy series Blockbuster has been cancelled by Netflix after just one season on the platform. The office comedy starring Melissa Fumero and Randall Park featured the pair as workers at the only Blockbuster that was still operating in America as they battled to keep the store running and preserve their employment.

Ten episodes made up the lone season of Blockbuster, which launched on Netflix on November 3. During both its opening day and its opening week, the series was unable to crack the top 10 on the streaming service in the United States. Only Australia and Canada, according to Netflix, saw the series reach the top 10.

Additionally, the series’ ratings from critics were conflicting; as of this writing, it has a 22% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The Midnight Club, which was cancelled after a single season that ended on a cliffhanger, and Joe Barton’s The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself were both single-season shows that were cancelled by Netflix during the month of December. Just over a month after the start of its second season, Warrior Nun also experienced a surprising cancellation. Contrary to Blockbuster, each of these shows received favourable reviews, but they did not significantly increase the number of viewers.

Blockbuster also stars Tyler Alvarez from Crush, Madeleine Arthur, Olga Merediz, JB Smoove from Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Kamaia Fairburn. In addition to Park and Fumero. Along with David Caspe (Black Monday) and Jackie Clarke, the show’s creator Vanessa Ramos from Brooklyn Nine-Nine also works as a writer and executive producer. Along with John Fox, John Davis served as executive producer under his Davis Entertainment production name. Netflix offers streaming of Blockbuster’s sole season.
