The official trailer for Zach Braff’s newest film, “A Good Person,” has been made available by MGM. The film stars Florence Pugh from “Midsommar” with Celeste O’Connor, Zoe Lister-Jones, Molly Shannon, Morgan Freeman, and Morgan Freeman. Pugh assumes the role of Allison in the forthcoming thriller, a traumatized car crash victim battling an opiate addiction. Allison starts to confront her history through an odd bond with the father of her deceased fiancé years after the catastrophe.

In Pugh’s role as the 18th-century version of a social media influencer in Braff’s 2019 short film “In the Time It Takes to Get There,” the two previously collaborated on a project. Following their time spent working together, they began dating.

According to the official synopsis, the movie follows Daniel (Morgan Freeman) and Allison (Pugh) as they become friends following Allison’s involvement in “an unfathomable catastrophe that [takes Daniel’s] daughter’s life.” As Allison tries to rebuild her life and Daniel begins to raise a teenage granddaughter, they “find that friendship, forgiveness, and hope can grow in surprising places.”

The trailer portrays Allison and Daniel’s anguish following the death of Daniel’s daughter, whom Allison claims were going to become her sister-in-law, in a vehicle accident while Allison was at the wheel. Allison seeks support from her mother (Molly Shannon) as she struggles in the wake of the tragedy, and by chance, she runs across Daniel at the same AA group.

Braff received an Emmy nomination in 2005 for outstanding main actor in a comedy series for his recurring role as J.D. on NBC’s “Scrubs.” Other noteworthy performances include parts in Gail Lerner’s 2022 adaption of “Cheaper by the Dozen” and 2013’s “Oz the Great and Powerful.”

For directing an episode of “Ted Lasso,” Braff was nominated for an Emmy in 2021. In addition to acting in “Wish I Was Here” and “Garden State,” he has also directed the 2017 movie “Going in Style.” Together with Pugh, Noah Segal, Christine Vachon, Christina Piovesan, and Pamela Koffer, Braff produced the movie.

The release date of “A Good Person” is set for March 24, 2023.
