With the release of the Norwegian monster movie Troll, Netflix has continued to enjoy success. In fact, a recent Variety report claims that Troll is now the most well-liked non-English movie on the streaming service. The movie, which made its Netflix debut earlier this month, has already racked up an estimated 128 million hours of viewing time, and more are still coming in.

Troll has surpassed other well-liked non-English Netflix movies like Blood Red Sky, which saw 110 million hours of viewing, The Platform, which saw 108 million hours of viewing, and All Quiet on the Western Front, which saw 101 million hours of viewing. Along with 93 other nations, including Norway, Japan, Mexico, and the U.K., the movie is now still in the Top 10 on Netflix in the United States.

The film, which was based on Norwegian folklore, is about a group of humans who must cooperate to stop a monstrous Troll from wreaking havoc across the nation after emerging from a mountain. Troll, directed by Roar Uthaug, stars Ine Marie Wilmann, Kim Falck, Mads Sjgrd Pettersen, and Anneke von der Lippe. Roar Uthaug also directed Tomb Raider, starring Alicia Vikander. The movie’s screenplay was written by Espen Horn, who also produces with Motion Blur’s Kristian Strand Sinkerud.

Troll, which has a 90% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, received great reviews from critics who praised the movie’s amazing effects and exciting action sequences despite some criticism of its predictable plot. It is still unclear whether a sequel will materialise in the future despite the movie’s increasing popularity. There may be room for another monster franchise in the near future, though, given the renewed popularity of the genre brought on by Legendary’s Monsterverse.
