According to a recent Instagram post by Timothée Chalamet, filming for Dune: Part Two has finished. The caption on the picture reads, “DUNE 2 WRAPPED (with desert dad!!),” and it shows the actor standing next to his father against a background of the desert.

While Chalamet’s Instagram post didn’t reveal any new details about the sequel, it does indicate that post-production will begin for the picture and that it will continue to feature the distinctive desert landscape that fans of the first film fell in love with. Next November’s planned sequel, which will act as a direct continuation of the first movie, will be based on the second half of Frank Herbert’s original 1965 novel. Fans still have plenty of time to create anticipation because the film won’t be out for another year and a half.

Along with several actors from the previous movie, including Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgrd, Javier Bardem, and Dave Bautista, Denis Villeneuve returns to the director’s chair. The sequel will also introduce a number of fresh faces to the franchise, including Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, and Christopher Walken as Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV. Despite the lack of information about the movie, Villeneuve has previously stated that the sequel will build on the setup of the original with a stronger emphasis on “cinematic action.”

In 2021, the first Dune opened to positive reviews and a strong box office performance in theatres and on HBO Max. Many people praised the movie for its epic sense of scale and commitment to the original novel. A television spinoff called Dune: The Sisterhood, which will focus on the Bene Gesserit’s beginnings, is also in the works in addition to the eventual release of its much anticipated sequel. Among the many actors that will appear in the series are Indira Varma, Shirley Henderson, and Emily Watson.
