Could Netflix be bringing back The Baby-Sitters Club?

The Baby-Sitters Club was cancelled by Netflix after only two seasons, but what a joy those two seasons were! The show, which was based on a series of middle-grade novels, updated the plots and characters for more modern audiences while never losing the charm of the original stories. The Baby-Sitters Club, centred on five girls who band together to start a babysitting agency, is a pure delight for both children and adults.

The young characters are dynamic, each with their own set of problems as well as different personalities and interests; however, the adult characters are also fantastic, bringing the entire series to life. The Baby-Sitters Club, however, has gained some momentum lately after taking home two prizes at this weekend’s Children & Family Emmys: outstanding writing for a live action preschool or children’s programme and outstanding children’s or family viewing series.

The Baby-Sitters Club, a topical dramedy based on Ann M. Martin’s best-selling book series, follows the friendships and personal struggles of seven females as they launch their own babysitting service in Stoneybrook, Connecticut. Executive producing the show for Walden Media were Rachel Shukert, Lucia Aniello, Michael De Luca, Lucy Kitada, Sascha Rothchild, as well as Naia Cucukov, Ben Forrer, Frank Smith, and Martin.

Smith stated in a statement at the time of the cancellation announcement that Walden wanted to create fresh incarnations of the property. Smith commented at the time, “We are tremendously appreciative for Netflix’s vision and assistance in creating the universe of ‘The Babysitters Club.'” “Although we are disappointed that the series is coming to an end, we look forward to opportunities in the future to introduce new audiences to the legacy of Ann M. Martin’s cherished work.”

Stars in the series included Alicia Silverstone as Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer, Malia Baker as Mary Anne Spier, Momona Tamada as Claudia Kishi, Shay Rudolph as Stacey McGill, Kyndra Sanchez as Dawn Schafer, Vivian Watson as Mallory Pike, Anais Lee as Jessi Ramsey, Mark Feuerstein as Watson Brewer, and Marc Evan Jackson as Richard Spier.
