Taylor Swift is all set to debut as a feature film director. The Oscar-winning production company behind The Shape of Water and Nomadland will use her original script that she wrote. Other specifics are being kept under wraps. Following the success of the short film starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien, which won multiple awards in the longform video category, Swift is now considering taking on the responsibility of directing a full-fledged feature picture.

According to Variety, Taylor Swift will debut as a feature-length director with Searchlight Pictures. An original story created by the singer, composer, and director will be produced by a studio that has previously supported Oscar-winning works like Nomadland and The Shape of Water. There are currently no known details on the film’s plot or actors.

The presidents of Searchlight, David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield, discussed working with Taylor in a Variety interview and said, “Taylor is a once-in-a-generation artist and storyteller. It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey.”

Taylor has already achieved unparalleled musical success. Swift just made history by being the first solo artist to ever win two MTV VMAs best director honours for her short films All Too Well and The Man. Swift is the only female musician to have won album of the year three times and is an 11-time Grammy winner. The singer’s 10th studio album, Midnights, which she released in October of this year, has already started topping charts. The 14-minute All Too Well: The Short Film, written and directed by Swift, was exhibited at the Toronto and Tribeca International Film Festivals in 2022.
