The previous two weeks have been an enormous emotional rollercoaster for Superman fans, and the journey is still going. Henry Cavill finally gave the public what they wanted when he returned his role as Kal-El for a thunderous mid-credits cameo in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam after a lengthy five-year absence without being seen in his super suit. Following the chief hires of James Gunn and Peter Safran at DC Studios, Cavill then followed up with a formal declaration of his return to the position, signaling the beginning of a more aggressive age for the DC legacy. The highly anticipated Man of Steel 2 starring Cavill, meanwhile, may have been put on the chopping block along with several other DC projects, according to allegations that appeared earlier this week.

The head of DC Films has promised that the Kryptonian hero is still very much a priority for the studio, only days after Gunn cryptically stated that “part of it [the story] is real, some of it is not true, & some of it we haven’t determined whether it’s true or not.”

Following his formal reappearance as Black Adam’s most powerful hero, Hollywood superstar Cavill has been dominating headlines. Superman says to Kahndaq’s defender Teth Adam in the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it scenario, “We should discuss.” Later it was discovered that Johnson had secretly pushed for Cavill’s comeback, which allowed for a very last-minute shot for Cavill’s portion of the sequence. The sequence was filmed less than a month before the movie was set to enter theatres since it was done at the last minute.
