Kate Winslet asserts that the second season of Mare of Easttown is still possible. Thanks to the actress’ battered and determined portrayal of DS Mare Sheehan in the seven-episode HBO crime thriller, which debuted last year, the show gained quite a fanbase. Kate Winslet provides a somewhat upbeat status report on Mare of Easttown season 2.

In order to portray small-town detective Mare Sheehan in HBO’s critically acclaimed 2021 limited series, Winslet honed her distinct Delco accent. Indeed, all the effort paid off because Winslet’s tough Mare of Easttown role earned her a Golden Globe and an Emmy. Fans are currently just interested in knowing if Winslet will ever return for Mare of Easttown season 2. Winslet has already stated that she would like to play the position once more in the future.

Winslet recently provided fans with a new and rather optimistic update on the prospect that Mare of Easttown season 2 could still materialise during an appearance on Graham Norton to promote the upcoming Avatar 2 as reported by DigitalSpy. She said, “I have heard the rumors but no decision has been made. It hasn’t been ruled out and there’s been no discussions at the moment. I also think, ‘How would you top that?'”

Mare of Easttown, a limited series, dealt with a standalone mystery that was completely resolved by the conclusion, leaving no evident business to be carried in a prospective season 2. However, Winslet’s portrayal of Mare was so riveting that rumours of her return to take on a brand-new Easttown mystery quickly spread. Such a mystery would undoubtedly be the focus of a future season 2, which would also allow for more in-depth discussion of characters like Mare’s daughter Siobhan (Angourie Rice).

The excellent thing for a potential Mare of Easttown season 2 is that there are a lot of different storylines that may be explored. Even though Winslet has already committed to another HBO project, being cast as the lead in Stephen Frears’ The Palace, it appears that she is still interested in reviving the role of Mare. Mare of Easttown season 2 may or may not materialise, but Winslet fans would undoubtedly jump at the opportunity to watch her take on another intricate small-town murder-mystery and tear down a hoagie.
