Netflix has set a 2023 release date for the second season of Shadow and Bone. The second season of Shadow and Bone will premiere on March 16, 2023, according to an official announcement made by Netflix today. Season 2 will once again contains eight episodes. Season 1 of Shadow and Bone premiered in April 2021, therefore by the time season 2 debuts in March 2023, it will have been almost two years. It was rather odd to have to wait so long for a new season of the series.

Developed by Eric Heisserer for Netflix, Shadow and Bone is a fantasy-themed streaming television series. Leigh Bardugo’s Shadow and Bone trilogy and Six of Crows duology, two book series set in the Grishaverse, served as its inspirations. The series tells the tale of young Alina Starkov, an orphan and cartographer for the First Army of the Ravka nation, as she learns she is a Grisha, a being with unique talents who has been waiting a long time to fill a critical need in the cosmos.

Shadow and Bone (2013) is adapted in the first season along with a brand-new plot arc centred on the Crows, the gang that inspired the duology of the same name. Another original story involving the Crows will be adapted for the second season, along with Siege and Storm (2013). Since the release of the teaser trailer for Shadow and Bone season 2 earlier this year, Netflix has only offered fans a few hints as to what to anticipate. The first season of Shadow and Bone attracted a sizable audience right away and was formally renewed for a second season in June 2021. All eight episodes of the show were written within a short period of time, demonstrating the team’s rapid progress on the project. This made it possible for Shadow and Bone season 2 to start shooting in early 2022 and wrap up by June.
