Everything We Know About the David Fincher Netflix Movie The Killer

David

The Killer, a 2023 release on Netflix starring Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton, is a noir thriller. The movie, directed by David Fincher, was in dormant development for more than ten years when Netflix bought the rights from Paramount. What is known thus far about the forthcoming project is listed here.
David Fincher, who has won a Golden Globe and is up for an Oscar, will helm Netflix’s The Killer. Fincher is best known for such critically acclaimed films as Gone Girl, Mank, The Social Network, Zodiac, Se7en, and many more.

For Netflix’s The Killer, Fincher will collaborate once more with Se7en author Andrew Kevin Walker. Walker also penned the 1999 movie Sleepy Hollow, starring Johnny Depp, and the Oscar-winning The Wolfman. Producing is being done by Fincher’s longtime collaborator Ceán Chaffin.
Fincher signed a four-year contract with Netflix in November 2020, despite the fact that he has been working with the streaming service for the previous five years nearly exclusively.

Mank, Love Death & Robots, House of Cards, and Mindhunter are just a few of the Netflix productions that Fincher has worked on over the past ten years. Panic Pictures, Archaia Entertainment, and BOOM! Studios are some of the production businesses involved in the endeavour. Erik Messerschmidt, who will serve as the film’s cinematographer, will also be participating.

What is the plot of The Killer on Netflix?

The Killer on Netflix is based on the French graphic novel of the same name by author Alexis Nolent (pen name Matz) and artist Luc Jacamon. The first volume was released in 1998, and the most recent in 2017. It is unknown which parts of the graphic novel will be adapted into the film, but if The Killer is a success, there may be room for sequels.
The official synopsis for Netflix’s The Killer is as follows:

The killer, alone and cold, methodical and free of scruples or regrets, lurks in the shadows, waiting for his next victim. And yet, the longer he waits, he fears he’ll lose his mind, if not his cool. This is a case study of a man alone, armed to the teeth, and slowly losing his mind in a brutal, bloody, and stylish noir story about a professional assassin lost in a world without a moral compass.

Who is in the cast of The Killer?

The Killer will be led by Oscar and Golden Globe nominee Michael Fassbender, best known for his roles in X-Men, 12 Years a Slave, Steve Jobs, Macbeth, and other films. Fassbender will play the titular killer, who develops a conscience throughout the film. Brad Pitt was rumoured to be in the running for the role at one point.
Tilda Swinton was later confirmed as part of the cast. Snowpiercer, The French Dispatch, Marvel’s Doctor Strange, and Netflix’s Okja are among her most well-known films. Among the rumoured actors and actresses to appear in the film are:

Kellan Rhude (Dexter: New Blood)
Monika Gossmann (Mank)
Caitlin Turner (Interview with the Vampire)

When will Netflix release The Killer?

The Louisiana unit for The Killer will work from December 14, 2021, through February 14, 2022, according to a recent ProductionWeekly listing. In February 2022, the movie’s production moved to Chicago, according to Screen Magazine. According to their report, some of the locations where the filming will take place include Halsted Street, Bucktown, the River West neighbourhood near Chicago Avenue, and Union Station in downtown Chicago. According to them, filming will go on up until March 17th, 2022, when it is anticipated that all filming will be completed and the project will enter post-production.

Given the new November 2021 production start date, we can probably expect Netflix’s The Killer to arrive in the second half of 2022 or even 2023. In other news, David Fincher is still planning to bring Chinatown to Netflix as a prequel to the 1974 film of the same name. A number of other BOOM Studios! adaptations are also in the works at Netflix.
