Gal Gadot honors her nine years as Wonder Woman on screen. The actress celebrated nine years since she was formally introduced as the DC superhero, making her debut in the 2016 film Batman v. Superman. In a post on social media, Gadot revealed a picture of herself as the role she would portray in the 2017 and 2020 standalone Wonder Woman films. Gal Gadot thanked her followers on Instagram for their support during that time and gave them a sneak peek at what the future holds for the Themyscira warrior.

She wrote on her Instagram, “On this day, a few years ago, was the first announcement that I was going to play Wonder Woman. I’ve been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character, and more than anything I’m grateful for YOU. The fans. The most amazing, warm, loving fans in the world. I’m still pinching myself to see if I will wake up. Can’t wait to share her next chapter with you.”

In December 2020, Warner Bros. revealed that a third and concluding Wonder Woman movie was in development to complete what they called “the long-planned theatrical trilogy,” with director Patty Jenkins confirmed to return. When Wonder Woman 1984 was released in the midst of the pandemic, it struggled financially at the box office because people were reluctant to visit theatres again, especially in the winter. In the end, the movie made $169.6 million worldwide and $46.8 million domestically. According to estimates, the movie cost the studio over $100 million.

Gadot’s casting was officially announced in 2013, and director Zack Snyder released the following statement, “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favourite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”

In the movies Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman 1984, Justice League, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Gal Gadot played the part of Princess Diana. Gal will next be seen with actor Alia Bhatt in the action-thriller Heart of Stone. Heart of Stone, directed by Tom Harper, is meant to be the first instalment in a series analogous to Tom Cruise’s “Mission Impossible.”
