Shania Twain sang “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman,” two of her 1990s country-pop singles, at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards. The Music Icon award was given to the Canadian country music icon as well for her ground-breaking singles and her enormous influence on subsequent generations of musicians.

“Somebody should depart was Reba’s catchphrase,” According to singer-songwriter Caitlin Rose, “Trisha’s had a little ‘please don’t leave,’ and Faith had ‘no one would ever leave me, obviously,’ but Shania’s brand was, ‘I will take no crap and all of your money, thanks!’ and it worked. Nobody touched Shania, certainly not the males who sang with her.

Twain, who wore his hair in a flash of pink, controlled the stage against a spectacular backdrop of fire, leopard patterns, and desert light shows. She played her 1995 Billboard Hot 100 hit “Any Man of Mine” as well as her most current song “Waking Up Dreaming.” This was her first new music since her No. 1 album Now in 2017. After her mother passed away, the celebrity thanked her fans in a heartfelt speech as she accepted her award from Billy Porter.

“Right now in my life, I miss my mother terribly. She wished her young kid could be witnessing this right now “Shania added. But you—my friends, my team, and my supporters—are the ones who truly fill that need. Although this is not my mother’s space, you are with me and are celebrating with me. You have always made me feel valued and special throughout my working life. And for that, I shall be eternally grateful, thank you.

She also advised her followers, saying, “Embrace your uniqueness and your wacky ideas. Simply be courageous. Remember that there is strength in numbers, we are all in this together, love is love, and when a door slams in your face, run, jump, and kick it down! You won’t be sorry.
