Netflix original series Wednesday smashed its own record and is still climbing the all-time charts of the streaming service. Wednesday officiallly becomes one of Netflix’s greatest hits of all time. After Stranger Things 4 and Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, the series is currently the third-most watched English-language TV series on the platform, according to Deadline.

A sequel of Charles Addams’ The Addams Family comics, the mystery-horror series is based on the characters of that series. It follows Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) as she is taken to Nevermore Academy, a boarding school designed especially for misfits. Wednesday strives to investigate a mysterious killing spree that is affecting the academy and its neighbouring town of Jericho, Vermont, while adjusting to her unexpected psychic ability.

Wednesday has surpassed its own record twelve days after its premiere, with 411.29 million hours of viewing during the week of November 28 to December 4, as reported by THR. This is the first instance in which a week’s worth of viewing for an English-language series exceeded 400 million hours. Following Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story at No. 2 and Stranger Things season 4 at No. 1 on Netflix’s all-time list for English-language series, Wednesday is ranked No. 3 with 752.52 million cumulative hours streamed. Wednesday is very likely to overtake the former soon and take the No. 2 position.

With Ortega in the lead, the show features a lead character the audience can’t necessarily relate to but still enjoys watching all the same. She effortlessly conveys the Addams family daughter’s deadpan sarcasm and sharp insight. Wednesday had mixed reviews from critics when it first debuted, but as of the time of this writing, it has gone on to achieve great sporting success. The series will continue to accumulate viewing hours and ascend even farther up Netflix’s all-time charts as long as it keeps focusing on its appealing tropes and promising lead character, which might lead to the anticipated season 2 renewal.
