Following the announcement that Margot Robbie is prepared to reprise her iconic role as Harley Quinn in the DC Extended Universe films, the Australian actress has now made her first public statement. This comes shortly after James Gunn, who directed The Suicide Squad, was chosen to replace Peter Safran as co-chair and co-CEO of DC Studios.

In an interview with ComicBook, Robbie, who is now promoting her new Damien Chazelle film Babylon, stated: “It’s insane, I realize that. Peter Safran was also a producer on The Suicide Squad, so I am quite familiar with both of them and think they make a great team. I consider it to be such a win for DC.” The feedback is positive for both Gunn and Safran, who is hoping to get an A-lister for their upcoming movie, and for fans, who would have been overjoyed to discover Robbie is eager to resume playing Harley Quinn.

“No, I’ve got enough vacation time. I’m willing to do her once more “Robbie just explained. “I watched Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad back-to-back in a year, which was a lot of Harley, but that was a while ago. A new Harley is always welcome to me!” Robbie elaborated on her wishes for the character’s future in the same interview with ComicBook, mentioning, in particular, the possibility of an on-screen relationship between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy.

In an interview with MTV News, Robbie was asked about the possibility of Lady Gaga playing Harley Quinn in the Joker sequel, Folie à Deux. She admitted her excitement and curiosity about the direction Gaga would take the character, without infringing on her since the movie is set in a different universe.

The following film starring Robbie is Babylon, which debuts in theatres on December 23.
