The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, directed by Ryan Murphy, is the third Netflix film in history to garner one billion hours of viewing time over the course of 60 days.

The series, which stars Evan Peters, premiered on Netflix on September 20 and, by the time it reached its 60-day milestone on November 20, had attracted over one billion viewers. Behind Stranger Things season four and Squid Game, which both accomplished this accomplishment within their first month of being available on the streamer, Dahmer — Monster holds the record. Additionally, after 12 days of streaming, the series debuted at No. 9 on the Most Popular chart for English-language shows with 491.1 million hours, and the following week, with 701.4 million hours, climbing to No. 2.

Peters admitted in a recent interview that he prepared for the part by staying in character for “months” even though he “knew it was going to be dark and an extraordinary struggle.”

The two-season run of Monster, which was originally intended to be a limited series, will continue to highlight “other horrific people who have touched society.”
