Violent Night, starring Stranger Things’ David Harbour, is one of the most anticipated Christmas films for 2022. The film will be released in theatres on December 2nd, but will it be available on Netflix? The answer is determined by where you live. David Harbour, who plays Hopper in Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things, plays Santa Claus in this Universal Pictures comedy thriller.
The film, directed by Tommy Wirkola and starring Harbour, Beverly D’Angelo, John Leguizamo, and Cam Gigandet, has been a box office success thus far.
According to TMDB, here’s what you can expect if you see the film in theatres this holiday season or wait for it to be released on other platforms:
“When a team of mercenaries breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve and kidnaps everyone inside, they aren’t expecting a surprise combatant: Santa Claus has arrived on the premises and is about to demonstrate why this Nick is no saint.”
Will Violent Night be available on Netflix?
Violent Night will be available on Netflix in the United States thanks to a deal struck in 2021 for all upcoming Universal films, but it won’t be for a long time. That means Violent Night will not be available on Netflix until 2026. Peacock and Prime Video in the United States will share the first window rights until then (expect to be available in 2023).
Based on the addition of The 355 to the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romanic, and Slovakia earlier this year, Central European nations are now receiving new Universal films within three months of their theatrical debuts. The film will be released in those countries in early 2023.
Violent Night will be available on Netflix in South Korea around a year after its theatrical release, according to their policy, which means it will arrive there in late 2023. For the majority of Netflix subscribers in nations like Canada, Japan, South Africa, India, and the United Kingdom, new Universal films are usually available about 2.5 years after their theatrical release. Thus, it won’t be available on Netflix until at least 2024.
You can see some of the new (and vintage) Christmas movies on Netflix. Scrooge: A Christmas Carol, The Noel Diary, and I Believe in Santa are a few of the brand-new holiday films coming to Netflix in 2022. There are a few other David Harbour movies on Netflix that you should see if you feel like you need more of him in your life.
Harbour provided the narration for the nature documentary series anime, provided the voice for Q-Force, and starred in the bizarre special Frankenstein’s Monster’s Monster. Harbour also appeared in the Chris Hemsworth action thriller Extraction. We Have a Ghost and the fifth season of Stranger Things are upcoming.
