Following the completion of the first episode, DC villain Joseph Morgan of Titans season 4 teases how Sebastian Sanger will significantly impact the heroes in part 2. Titans season 4 part 1 has concluded as of this week, with Sebastian ultimately falling into the Church of Blood’s hands. Sebastian attempted to reject his destiny as Brother Blood, but in the midseason finale, he fell into the supernatural cult to protect his new superhero allies, leaving his future in suspense.

Morgan recently spoke with Screen Rant about the Brother Blood arc that will appear in Titans season 4 part 2. Following a recent statement from showrunner Greg Walker that Brother Blood is “more than a villain” for the season, Morgan was questioned about how much of an effect Brother Blood will have on the Titans given the close relationship he has with the heroes. The Originals actor claims that Sebastian began as their buddy, which undoubtedly complicates matters. He also assures that not everyone will have a happy ending, giving the following:

Because he became their friend first, especially some of them, and later on in the season, there’s another bond that is established with a different Titan, [similar to] what we have with Rachel. I think it’s easier to fight a masked villain who is just doing something terrible for the sake of being terrible. But for them to actually understand him, witness firsthand the pain that he has, and have it be something that they can relate to as well because of their struggles with their lives.

And certainly, Rachel is very, very similar to what she went through. I think, then, to have to try and stop this person and to have that conflict, there’s going to be something in you the whole time that thinks, ‘Am I doing the right thing,’ and I’ll tell you something, it is not going to be a happy ending for everyone on the show. You come away from something where that does happen, and it changes you. I am in dangerous territory now, mate! [laughs]

Why Brother Blood Makes For a Better Titans Villain

Actor Playing DC Villain In Titans Season 4 Teases Significant Impact On Heroes 2

The Titans team of heroes has encountered many DC Universe villains throughout previous seasons. Brother Blood is swiftly becoming one of the better antagonists for the DC TV drama, ranking among the demonic Trigon and Deathstroke, Red Hood, and Scarecrow. Because Raven and Sebastian have been proven to be half-siblings, the creative team has been able to use the familial ties between them, just like Trigon did. Since Rachel’s biological parents were revealed to be evil forces during Titans season 1, this helped to forge a really strong family tie for her.

However, Titans season 4 part 2 has a far more exciting task at hand by also introducing Sebastian as someone who joined the team as an ally. Brother Blood has long been one of the Teen Titans’ most deadly adversaries, but this isn’t a straightforward scenario, so the HBO Max drama now has a dilemma to resolve. It is more classic evil vs. good to send Trigon to another dimension or kill Deathstroke. However, because he is Raven’s half-brother, Sebastian is someone the Titans have grown to care for. It will be interesting to see if this results in Brother Blood being redeemed as opposed to defeat.

The fourth season of Titans has so far been the darkest of the entire series, largely due to Brother Blood and the Church of Blood. The stakes will be raised for season 4 part 2 whenever it airs in 2023 if this also results in Trigon somehow returning to the show. HBO Max has not yet determined whether Titans will receive a second season, so this decision won’t likely be made until after part 2 has been broadcast.
