Adam Sandler is currently discussing whether or not he will ever be a part of a major film franchise like Marvel, DC, or Star Wars. The veteran comedian recently gained notoriety for producing Netflix original films and continuing to blend in more serious parts. He has contributed to the beginning of two new franchises, Hotel Transylvania and Grown Ups, but he has never worked on a significant piece of IP. Adam Sandler’s forthcoming ventures don’t include his joining a well-established film franchise; rather, they involve fresh partnerships with the Safdie brothers and a Netflix sci-fi drama.

Hustle actor Adam Sandler was questioned about not having a significant franchise on his résumé during a recent interview with Josh Horowitz for the Happy Sad Confused Podcast. Horowitz wondered if he had thought of joining Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Harry Potter, or another significant film franchise. Despite being a fan of those kinds of movies, Sandler said that he has never given it any thought. He does not, however, believe that it will occur. James Gunn had already refuted Sandler’s claim that he was never asked by Marvel to play Rocket in Guardians of the Galaxy. See his response below:

I’ve never thought about it, maybe because no one has ever asked me. I don’t know. I’m very into, I love that stuff. I see that stuff and I go wow, these amazing movies, but no it hasn’t happened and probably won’t happen.

Which Popular Film Franchise Might Adam Sandler Join?

Adam Sandler has numerous opportunities to join one of Hollywood’s most well-known film franchises. Currently, the most popular franchises are without a doubt the Marvel Cinematic Universe, DC Universe, Star Wars franchise, Wizarding World series, and Fast & Furious. Adam Sandler could play various parts in most of these film series, and the studios behind them would probably be glad to have him on board. Sandler might take the ideal job or chance to join a major IP, given that the actor isn’t necessarily itching to do so.

Fans have long advocated for Adam Sandler to play The Thing in the MCU’s Fantastic 4 reboot to maintain the comic book character’s Jewish heritage. Given the potential implications for Jewish representation in superhero films, Sandler might find this to be a compelling role. Ironically, by portraying Sandman, a member of the Justice Society, who also happens to be Sandler’s moniker, he might also gain the same level of representation as DC. The Fast & Furious franchise may be the ideal fit for the actor because playing a regular human might appeal more to him than a superhero.
