Jason David Frank, an actor, and celebrity of mixed martial arts committed suicide, according to his spouse Tammie. On November 20, Frank’s demise was officially announced. Although a cause of death wasn’t given at the time, reports suggested suicide.
Tammie Frank attempted to clarify in an interview with People that was published on Wednesday. “While Jason was well-known to some, my family and I maintained quite typical lives, with their share of highs and lows. Seeing how the media has embellished the tragedy that befell my family has surprised and saddened me beyond words. I’ve been tormented online ever since Jason passed away, and I can’t take it any longer to see my husband’s reputation being defamed.
Frank gained notoriety for his depiction as Tommy Oliver (also known as the Green Ranger) in the first Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television series in the 1990s. The successful franchise’s television and movie adaptations used him as the White Ranger after that.
After spending the “weekend vacation” at a country dance event, Tammie Frank said, “I went downstairs to buy us snacks from the lobby to help Jason relax and sober up before turning to sleep. I can’t believe I was gone for more than ten minutes. After returning upstairs, I started hammering on the door but got no response. I kept knocking and yelling his name for him to answer the door.
When she was escorted downstairs by the police, she said, “They were able to unlock the door and found that Jason took his life. I don’t know if the hotel employees or a visitor phoned the police. These were the ‘disturbances’ that were mentioned online a lot.
She said, “I adored my husband, and we were attempting to resolve our issues. I’m just as shocked by his passing as everybody else. Truth be told, I was unaware that Jason was considering breaking things up. Yes, he had previously had depression and mental health problems, but I could never have predicted what would happen that night.”
Tammie Frank pleaded with people to “stop assuming and let my family grieve calmly” in her final statement.
