With 341.23M hours watched, “Wednesday” on Netflix had a record-breaking debut week

For Netflix, Wednesday has brought about a new record. The spooky series rocketed to the top of the TV ratings with a staggering 341.23M hours of viewing in its first week on the streamer.

It now holds the Netflix record for the most English-language TV series hours watched in a week. That convincingly beats out the previous winner, Stranger Things 4. Stranger Things 4’s first seven episodes saw a peak of 335 million hours of viewing during its first complete week on the service (and second week in the Top 10).

Squid Game now holds the record for the most hours watched on Netflix ever at 571.8 million. Wednesday is currently No. 1 in 83 countries, a record it shares with Stranger Things 4. It has entered the Top 10 in all 93 countries that Netflix monitors. Wednesday has reportedly been seen in more than 50M homes, according to Netflix.

The show, which stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, follows the character’s years as a student at Nevermore Academy as she struggles to control her developing psychic ability, stop a horrific killing spree that has terrorized the neighborhood, and solve the murder mystery that involved her parents 25 years ago while juggling her brand-new relationships at Nevermore.

Gwendoline Christie, Jamie McShane, and Percy Hynes White are also featured in the series, along with Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Naomi J Ogawa, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, and Riki Lindhome. In addition to Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Fred Armisen, and Isaac Ordonez, Christina Ricci also makes an appearance in the series. Al Gough and Miles Millar are the show’s creators and executive producers, while Tim Burton is the film’s director and producer.

With 87.9M hours seen, 1899 is ranked No. 2 on Netflix’s Top 10 for the week of November 21–27. Dead to Me Season 3 won another 33.3M hours seen, knocking The Crown down to third with 42.36M hours viewed.

The remaining titles are, in order: Where’s My Jet?, Pepsi, Manifest Season 1 (15M hours), and Manifest Season 4 (21.6M hours). (12.26 million hours), Warrior Nun (11.97 million hours), Manifest Season 3 (14.16 million hours), and Dead to Me Season 1 (11.94M hours).

Elite Season 6 ranked first among non-English language shows with 48.27M hours watched. With 32.2M hours seen, Til Money Do Us Part is in second place, while Under the Queen’s Umbrella is in third place with 18.08M hours viewed. On the list are Reborn Rich, The Unbroken Voice, and Chiquititas.
