A number of new posters have been revealed as James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water nears its much anticipated premiere. The characters’ new looks and range of emotions are revealed in the posters, which allow viewers a closer look at them. Nine fresh images for the upcoming Avatar sequel have been unveiled on Disney’s official Twitter account, highlighting a variety of feelings and characters that the movie will feature.

A number of well-known Pandorians are shown in the posters, including Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaa), who are both depicted with grave expressions on their faces and are both seen gazing into the horizon. They also have new facial markings, such as green forehead patches and Jake Sully’s visage having a black chin line that wasn’t present in the previous film. The character Cliff Curtis as the blue-eyed Pandorian Tonowari, Kate Winslet as Ronal, and Stephen Lang as the villain Miles Quaritch, this time playing a native Pandorian—are all featured on the posters.

Sigourney Weaver’s character, Kiri, wears a broad grin as she floats underwater in the new images, in contrast to the most of the characters who seem hesitant or prepared for a fight. On the other hand, her sibling Neteyam (Jamie Flatters) seems to be just as resolute as his father. Due to the absence of the recognisable blue colour of Na’vis, one character poster stands out among the others. Miles Socorro, a brand-new human character, is portrayed by Jack Champion and is seen addressing the camera directly. His pale colouring and markings that resemble those of the Pandorian indigenous make viewers wonder what part Jake and Neytiri’s lone adopted human son will play in the future movie.

The posters are released as the fantasy-adventure movie’s post-production work is completely finished. The eagerly anticipated Avatar: The Way of Water, which takes place around ten years after the 2009 original, is the follow-up to that movie. In preparation for its December release, tickets for the movie are currently on sale. On December 16, Avatar: The Way of Water will be screened in theaters. Check out the posters below:
