The popular cartoon strip The Addams Family, which Charles Addams developed, is updated on Wednesday. The Jenna Ortega-played title character is the main focus of the Netflix series, while her family only sometimes makes an appearance. However, according to co-showrunner Miles Millar, a second season may focus more on Wednesday’s family, which also features Luis Guzmán as Gomez and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia.

In an interview with TV Line, Millar said, “We felt like we only scratched the surface with those characters and the performers are so fantastic in those parts.” “Catherine is an iconic Morticia, in my opinion. The show also depends on the friendship between Wednesday and Morticia, and, significantly, Wednesday is attempting to follow her path outside of the family.

Even though Netflix decided not to renew Wednesday for a second season, according to Millar, “If we were to receive a second season, they would want to highlight the family as we did this season, in a few episodes.”

The role of Wednesday Addams, which Christina Ricci performed in the 1991 film The Addams Family and the 1993 follow-up Addams Family Values, is being praised for Ortega’s portrayal of the character. Despite having a similar set, Ortega claimed in an interview that she refrained from consulting Ricci because she didn’t want to “rip her off.”

Ortega told MTV News, “I think neither of us spoke Wednesday once to each other when she was on set.” She didn’t want to appear intrusive or interfere with my performance, in my opinion. Then I had the feeling that I didn’t want to bring up something that she had done thirty years prior, first for my benefit and second because I didn’t want to take advantage of her. I also didn’t want to resemble her too much.

The entire first season of Wednesday is now accessible on Netflix.
