Although Yellowstone has become one of the most popular shows on the globe, inspiring an entire universe and possibly reviving a television subgenre, the series is not available on Netflix. Here’s why. The neo-Western drama, which was created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, centres on a family ranch in Montana that faces numerous threats, chiefly from people who want to acquire their land. Sheridan is well known for his work on Sons of Anarchy and Hell or High Water (and currently collaborates with Paramount on a broad contract) (no longer on Netflix). On November 13th, 2022, the fifth season of the show premiered on Paramount Network, along with its presently airing spin-offs 1883, 1923, and 6666.
Is Yellowstone available on Netflix?
Yellowstone is not available on Netflix in the United States. Yellowstone’s broadcast rights in the United States are exclusive to the Paramount Network, and its streaming rights were sold early on to NBC Universal’s Peacock in 2020.
The only way for Netflix to get Yellowstone streaming is if Paramount (or ViacomCBS) decides to licence it to Netflix and Peacock. Given the show’s popularity, it would command a high price, and Paramount is more likely to keep the rights in order to bolster its own streaming service. That sentiment was echoed by Bob Bakish, CEO of Paramount, who expressed regret over selling the show’s streaming rights.
Although Yellowstone was one of the most popular TV shows in the US, the western is hardly known abroad. With the exception of Australia, the show is only accessible in the majority of international locations via Paramount+, which is gradually being introduced throughout the world.
The programme was previously available on Prime Video in Canada, but those rights have since been reclaimed for Paramount+’s exclusive release. Yellowstone is only accessible on Stan in Australia.
