The official trailer for White Noise has just been released by Netflix. Noah Baumbach, the filmmaker behind Greenberg, Mistress America, and Marriage Story, wrote, directed, and produced the film based on Don DeLillo’s book. Baumbach also co-wrote the upcoming Barbie film with Greta Gerwig, who co-stars with Adam Driver in White Noise. The film will be released in select theatres on November 25, 2022, followed by a global Netflix release on December 30, 2022.

White Noise dramatises a modern American family’s attempts to deal with the everyday conflicts of life while pondering the universal mysteries of love, death, and the possibility of happiness in an unknowable world. It is simultaneously hilarious and horrifying, lyrical and absurd, ordinary and apocalyptic. Based on a Don DeLillo novel, Noah Baumbach wrote the screenplay, directed the film, and David Heyman and Noah Baumbach (p.g.a.) served as producers (p.g.a.). Uri Singer is the producer. White Noise, a Noah Baumbach movie based on a Don DeLillo book and starring Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig, will soon be available on Netflix and in some cinemas.

Don DeLillo’s 1985 publication of the book White Noise contributed to his career as a novelist. The book centres on Jack Gladney (Driver), a professor of “Hitler Studies,” and his family, which consists of biological and stepchildren from his five unions with four different women. An “Airborne Toxic Event” occurs when a chemical spill spreads a poisonous cloud over the town, changing the course of events. As the somewhat reclusive Jack struggles to deal with his family, his own mortality, and the deteriorating state of society, that incident inspires additional twists and capers.

The themes of mortality, consumerism, religion, childhood vs. adulthood, and the academic bubble all fit naturally into Noah Baumbach’s style, and Adam Driver’s quirky on-screen presence seemed to be a wonderful match for Jack Gladney. White Noise won’t appeal to everyone who watches it, but for those who enjoy Baumbach’s unique style of filmmaking, it will be a wonderful fit, if not a little more comedic(?) than we’re used to.

White Noise will debut on Netflix on December 30, 2022, after premiering in a few cinemas on November 25, 2022. Additionally, Marija Tiurina’s speciality artwork, which will only be distributed in theatres, has been unveiled for the movie. Get a sneak glimpse by watching the brand-new trailer down below.
